What is a Good Credit Score and How To Raise it?

Your credit score is very important. It can determine the rate at which you can borrow money. There are two things that one can do to raise a credit score that are very simple.
The first thing to do is pay the debt one has on time. The second thing to do is to only take on debt that one can afford. The credit score determines your ability to pay back debt and is determined by the the record of paying back the debt that one has had in the past.
The factor that most affects your credit score is the payment history. If a person is paying back the debt that they took out, then they have a great payment history, thus raising the credit score. If a person takes on more debt than they can realistically afford, then that will negatively impact your ability to pay back their own debt. If a person has made mistakes in the past paying back debt or made mistakes by taking on more debt than is reasonable, then it is important to stop taking on new debt until the person regains the ability to pay back the debt they have on time.
The most recent record is the most important. If a person starts paying all debt off or at least making monthly payments on time before taking on more debt, then the credit score will increase rather than decrease. Once a record of paying on time is established, then one must continue to pay on time and only take on debt that is reasonable. Once a pattern or habit of paying on time is established, then it becomes that much easier to keep paying on time.
The next most important factor in determining a credit score is the amount of debt a person has. If a person is paying on time and not taking on new debt, then over time the amount of debt will decrease, thus increasing the your credit score. The credit score really accounts for a reasonable, responsible, steady credit history. The two things that anyone who wants a good credit score should do is pay debt on time, and only take on debt that can be afforded.
